🎨 Coming Soon in 2026 to Todd Mall: 'Mparntwe' cultural trail information board🎨
Keep your eyes peeled for updates! 👀🙈
About the Art
Ex-local and historian, Alice Woods, was engaged to research and script 17 information boards covering an array of town specific narratives with relevant imagery. She was assisted by Glen Morrison to ensure the stories told accurately and holistically.
Some of these topics include Transport in Central Australia, Education in Alice Springs, and Indigenous Art History. Central Arrernte Elder, Sabella Turner, has also been engaged to translate culturally relevant texts into Central Arrernte to display on the inverse side of these boards. The design on the top ('Healing' (2025)) and bottom ('Our Country' (2025)) of each board was created by local artist Keioni Lander. You will also see these designs across several new functional elements as part of the broader Mall upgrades.
As part of the initial stages of the Regeneration project, five boards will be installed with additional signs to be added as more is completed in the Todd Mall.
See the attached map in the image section which highlights the range of artworks and cultural elements planned across Todd Mall.
✨ This is one part of a wider collection of artist-designed elements being incorporated as part of the Todd Mall Regeneration project, aiming to create a vibrant, culturally rich heart for our town.
