The Note­wor­thy Award

“A per­son with dis­abil­i­ty who has made a note­wor­thy con­tri­bu­tion to the community”

Award winners have:

• Made an important contribution to the Alice Springs community in their chosen field.
• A strong history of being actively involved in the community.
• Improved the lives of people in Alice Springs or the community as a while through their efforts.

The Cham­pi­on Award

“A per­son with or with­out dis­abil­i­ty who has been an advo­cate for the rights and well-being of peo­ple with disability”

Award winners have:

• A strong history of being a cham­pi­on for the rights of peo­ple with disability
• pro­moted awareness and under­stand­ing of peo­ple with disability
• made contributions that has result­ed in improved conditions, ​ser­vices, well-being or under­stand­ing of peo­ple with

The Michele Castagna Medal

“Award­ed to an indi­vid­ual that dis­plays tenacity”

Michele Castagna OAM (3/8/ 1944 – 17/9/2016), a tire­less and active mem­ber of Council’s Access Advi­so­ry Com­mit­tee for 20-years, was incred­i­bly com­mit­ted to improv­ing dis­abil­i­ty access in Alice Springs and was inte­gral in the cre­ation of the May­oral Awards.

AllAbilities Network

Work in the Disability or Social Service Sector? Join AllAbilities Network!

Council has started a network involving organisation representatives and individuals from the disability and social services sectors to create an opportunity for people to meet and share information and experiences. With a common aim to build an inclusive town for everybody, AllAbilities Network can be a chance for attendees to share their organisation’s new program and initiatives with likeminded people. It is held quarterly at a different local organisation each time and features a small presentation from a guest speaker.

Online Accessibility Map

Alice Springs Town Council launched an online accessibility map in 2022. This accessibility map is easily available to the community and shows access points and facilities as well as locations of key services within the Alice Springs Municipality.
