Adopt a Tree (or two)
The Adopt a Tree or Two and Adopt a Street programs are community partnerships between Alice Springs Town Council (ASTC) and local residents, forming part of the Alice Springs Greening Strategy.
These initiatives aim to increase canopy cover and enhance the beauty of our town by empowering residents to care for trees on the verge outside their home and within their front yard. As ASTC continues to plant and maintain a growing number of trees across the municipality, strengthening collaboration with the community is key to long-term success.
Community involvement not only improves tree survival rates and overall health, but also fosters a stronger sense of connection and pride in our shared environment.
Trees offer a wide range of benefits—helping to reduce heat, improve air quality, support local wildlife, minimise noise, and create more liveable neighbourhoods for everyone.
These free programs are available to all residents within the municipality. Simply submit an Expression of Interest, and our team will assess your location and provide suitable native trees along with helpful care tips.
It’s an easy way to play a part in Alice Springs’ greening journey.
We encourage residents to adopt a tree for their verge and another for their front yard to help create denser, cooler shade.
- Adopt a Tree or Two: Submit your Expression of Interest here.
