How to Apply

What to Include in Your Application
Your application must contain:
- Cover letter
- Responses to the Selection Criteria (essential and, where listed, desirable)
- Current resume/CV
- Copies of relevant qualifications
- Details for two work-related referees
Mandatory Pre-Employment Requirements
National Criminal History Check
Applicants must provide either:
- A valid National Police Clearance (issued within the last 6 months), or
- A receipt confirming a lodged application and an ASTC NT Statutory Declaration which will be held, pending issue of a new National Police Clearance.
Working With Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
For roles requiring an Ochre Card:
- Applicants must supply either a current Ochre Card or evidence of a lodged application.
- Employment cannot begin without either a valid Ochre Card or a temporary waiver issued by NT Police after the application is lodged. This is the responsibility of the Applicant.
Right to Work in Australia
To be considered for employment with Alice Springs Town Council, applicants must have current and lawful work rights in Australia.
Applicants must be prepared to provide evidence of this (e.g. passport, citizenship certificate, visa, birth certificate, or proof of residency) for their application to progress.

Selection Criteria
The Selection Criteria are listed in each Position Description.
When responding:
- Be factual, specific and succinct.
- Provide clear examples showing how you meet each criterion.
- Include transferable skills or experience from volunteer or community roles where relevant.
- Avoid unrelated information or overly long responses.

Your CV should include:

- Educational qualifications

Council's Recruitment Process
- Shortlisting
A three-member panel assesses applications based on skills, experience, qualifications and Selection Criteria responses. Gender balance may be considered depending on interviewees.
- Interviews and Practical Assessments
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview and may be asked to complete a job-related practical exercise.
- Reference Checks
Nominated referees will be contacted to confirm employment history and relevant behaviour or performance.
- Pre-Employment Checks
