Alice Springs Town Council welcomes the election of the 15th Council of Alice Springs.
Asta Hill was officially sworn in prior to Councillors to preside over a citizenship ceremony, before taking the chair for the swearing-in of the new Council on 23 September 2025. She becomes the 11th Mayor of Alice Springs.
Mayor Hill will be joined in the Chamber by Sean Heenan, Damien Ryan, Cherisse Buzzacott, Larissa Ellis, Allison Bitar, Aia Newport, Danial Rochford and Darren Burton after being elected as Councillors.
“It’s an honour to be chosen to represent the community of Alice Springs as Mayor, and it is a responsibility I will approach with openness, dedication and respect,” Mayor Hill said.
Alice Springs Town Council CEO Andrew Wilsmore extended a warm welcome to the Mayor and Councillors, saying it was an exciting time for the entire town.
“On behalf of the organisation, I congratulate the Mayor and the incoming 15th Council. We look forward to working collaboratively with our Elected Members to achieve the best outcomes for Alice Springs,” Mr Wilsmore said.
“The Council team are committed to supporting Elected Members as they deliver on the priorities of our community. Together, we will continue to build on the strengths of Alice Springs and work towards a bright, sustainable future.”
The 15th Council brings together a mix of returning and newly elected representatives, providing both continuity and fresh perspectives to civic decision-making.
The new Council will begin civic duties immediately following the swearing-in ceremony, which will take place prior to the First Ordinary Meeting on Tuesday 23 September 2025 at the Civic Centre at 5:30pm. Members of the public are invited to attend or watch via the livestream link on Council’s website.
