The indoor leisure pool at the Alice Springs Aquatic and Leisure Centre will remain temporarily closed following damage sustained during October’s storm.
The storm caused damage to electrical infrastructure servicing the indoor leisure pool, with further assessment finding that more substantial repairs are required than initially anticipated. The indoor leisure pool expected to remain closed for approximately four to six weeks.
Alice Springs Town Council (ASTC) is working to complete the necessary repairs and reopen the indoor leisure pool as soon as possible.
During the closure, the outdoor 50 metre pool and outdoor learn-to-swim pool remain available to the community.
Learn-to-swim classes will continue in the outdoor learn-to-swim pool, weather permitting, while aqua aerobics will continue outdoors where possible. Some sessions may need to be cancelled depending on conditions.
ASTC understands the closure will impact regular users of the indoor leisure pool, particularly those who use the warm water pool for mobility and accessibility needs, and appreciates the community’s patience while repairs are completed.
Members affected by the closure can contact the Alice Springs Aquatic and Leisure Centre to discuss membership options.
The indoor 25 metre pool remains separately closed for scheduled maintenance.
ASTC will provide further updates as repair works progress.
