Disney's Newsies
Wednesday 26th August 2026

St Philip’s College presents the Tony-award nominated musical, Disney’s Newsies, based on a real-life David-versus-Goliath strike to fight for what is right.
Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy living in turn of the century New York City, dreams of escaping his small life in a big city. But when the price of newspapers is suddenly increased, he must rise and lead a rag-tag group of teenage “newsies” to stand against publishing titan Joseph Pulitzer.
Featuring songs from eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act), such as “Seize the Day,” “King of New York” and “Santa Fe”, Newsies is inspired by the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899. Celebrate the courage and camaraderie of the young people who stood against social injustice, in this electrifying production that will have you inspired long after you leave.
