YOUth Matter (2024)

YOUth Matter is a community mural created in March 2024 through a partnership between the Alice Springs Town Council and Tangentyere Council's young women's group. Designed by local artist Danae Moore, the artwork was painted by Future Yayes Group in collaboration with artists Jeremiah Daniels Pepperill and Alison Hittmann. The mural centres on the powerful message “YOUth Matter,” celebrating the value, strength and potential of young people.

Created to coincide with International Women's Day, the artwork promotes positive messages around self-worth, healthy relationships, respect and racial equity.

The project brought together young people, artists, family members and community members in a shared creative process that strengthened community connections and encouraged a sense of pride and belonging. The mural was completed with a traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, recognising the cultural significance of the project and celebrating the collective effort behind its creation.
