Every year I look forward to the Wildflowers that bloom here in Mparntwe, it’s so magical and makes the desert come alive with colour.
About the Artist
Samantha Campbell is a Dagoman woman who lives in Mparntwe with her family. She is a professional artist, illustrator and graphic designer, and draws inspiration from her childhood growing up in remote areas across the Northern Territory.
Samantha Campbell is a published Illustrator & Graphic Designer based in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. She is descended from the Dagoman people and grew up in various remote Aboriginal communites across the Top End, before living in Darwin, Adelaide, and Melbourne. Samantha studied Graphic Design in Melbourne and worked as a freelance Graphic Designer. She specialised in illustration and illustrated her first children's book Alfred's War, written by Rachel Bin Salleh (Alfred's War was later shortlisted for two literary awards). Since then, she has illustrated 10 children's books for a range of different publishers and continues to work as a Graphic Designer and illustrator for Coolamon Creative, a creative services business she owns and operates with her sister, based in Alice Springs. Samantha enjoys illustrating and painting traditionally and digitally, in many styles.
