This Rollershutter Art piece has been created as part of the Mparntwe Street Art Festival 2024 in conjunction with Red Hot Arts and proudly sponsored by Activate Alice.
"That's my planet, that's the transformer planet. I'm on transformer planet. I created it. I imagined it and made it. I was born with magic powers, I was born with all different ones. I imagine and I make it appear. When you imagine a planet in your head, you make it appear and make it real. Ocean will appear, forest, hills, mountains and rivers. You can create different worlds."
About the Artist
Lizzie Trew is a Pitjantjatjara emerging artist based in Mparntwe (Alice Springs). Lizzie’s primary medium is painting, though her practice is multidisciplinary, encompassing 3-Dimensional sculptures out of paper pulp, ceramics, digital arts, and drawing.
Lizzie paints from memory and imagination; ‘I remember and imagine things, and then I paint them. When I imagine something, I make it real.’ She often paints aliens, planets, motor cars, disco balls, people, and wolves. Lizzie’s work is bold, humorous, colourful, and playful.
Her work has most recently been exhibited in an exhibition at Watch This Space called ‘This is a sand dune or another planet or whatever’, Bindi Magic, 2023 and Bindi’s Central Desert Digital Art Prize, 2023.
