About the Art
Located on the low concrete block wall near the Cemetery chapel, this piece depicts bronze birds, one perched on a seed pod amongst others part of the artwork.
Represented here by the cheerful Atetherre (Budgerigar or Melopsittacus undulates) and the cheeky Arlpatye (Port Lincoln Ringneck Parrot or Barnadius zonarius).
Atetherre (ah-tut-uhr-ruh) and Arlpatye (arl-puh-chuh or Al-par-ch) are local Arrernte words. To hear the audio pronunciation, you can find it by searching the Eastern and Central Arrernte Learners’ List.
