About the Art:
Kurrkurrka (Owl) is a playful and eye-catching public artwork inspired by Trudy Inkamala’s love of owl forms, which feature strongly in her creative practice. Set within the park’s sandpit area, the sculptures bring a sense of curiosity, joy and watchfulness to the space—like a group of owls quietly keeping an eye on the activity around them.
Developed in collaboration with Elbow Workshop, the artworks combine layered, laser-cut steel with bold colours and hand-painted details. Designed to be both durable and interactive within the landscape, the pieces are thoughtfully integrated into the play environment, inviting children and families to engage with them as part of their experience of the park. The result is a vibrant and welcoming installation that blends art, play and storytelling in a way that feels both fun and meaningful.
