About the Artwork
Energy Comes from Thunder tells a story of rain, lightning and the natural forces that create and sustain life on Arrernte Country. The artwork explores the relationship between lightning, electricity, water and the natural world, drawing on cultural knowledge shared by the Ewyenper Atwatye storytellers. Painted on critical community infrastructure, the mural brings traditional stories into the public realm while connecting them to contemporary systems of power and water.
About the Project
Developed through Power and Water Corporation's Community Artwork Project, the mural reflects the enduring connection of Arrernte people to Country and highlights the importance of Aboriginal storytelling, cultural continuity and community partnerships. The project supports local artists in sharing stories, culture and lived experiences through public art.
