A self-made entrepreneur, Deputy Mayor Allison Bitar has been a fantastic role model for young Centralians since moving to the region in 2002. Along with her husband, Deputy Mayor Bitar is a proud local business owner and brings a strong business mind to the Council Chamber.
Deputy Mayor Bitar also has valuable experience working in cultural heritage management, policy design and town planning, as well as holding a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons Anthropology) and a Graduate Diploma of Urban and Regional Town Planning. She has served on the NT Heritage Council and the Development Consent Authority, strengthening her ability to bring a nuanced approach to a wide range of issues.
As a member of the 14th Alice Springs Town Council, Deputy Mayor Bitar gained important experience and insight into local government decision-making, which she now carries forward into the Chamber of the 15th Council.
A strong believer in working together with people from all walks of life for the good of the community, Deputy Mayor Bitar is committed to making Alice Springs a place people want to move to, invest in, and call home.
