Screen Masterclass with Constantine Costi
Saturday 28th February 2026

Join us for a special screen masterclass with Constantine Costi, director of the Australian documentary The Golden Spurtle. A rare chance to learn from one of Australia’s most inventive emerging directors - and to explore how a humble bowl of oats became the centre of a hit documentary.
From the award‑winning screen world of A Delicate Fire, named Best Australian Feature Film at the 2021 Sydney Women’s Film Festival - to the bold theatrical stage of Siegfried & Roy: The Unauthorised Opera, Constantine Costi moves effortlessly between cinematic intimacy and theatrical spectacle. His hybrid craft - part filmmaker, part stage-maker - gives his storytelling a distinctive lyricism and sense of performance, even when the characters are utterly real.
In this masterclass, Costi will take you behind the scenes of The Golden Spurtle, the warm‑hearted crowd‑pleaser set in the sleepy Scottish Highlands village of Carrbridge, home of the annual World Porridge Making Championship. From eccentric locals to globe‑trotting competitors - including an Australian taco chef - Costi captures a world where tradition and competition meet with warmth, humour, and a distinctly expressive visual sensibility.
Held at The Old Courthouse, this event is free, but places are limited - registration essential.
