National Simultaneous Storytime - Alpacas with Maracas

Wednesday 22 May 2019, 10.15 am-10.45 am

Join us for a special Preschool Storytime where we will be reading Matt Cosgrove's Alpacas with Maracas, at the same time as the rest of Australia!

National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual event organised by the Australian Library and Information Association. Each year on a nominated date and hour, children all over Australia read the same book. The event aims to promote the value of reading and literacy for young people.

Alice Springs Chess Club

Every Friday from 6 - 9 pm.

Love a game of chess? From social players to more serious competitors, all are welcome. Please bring along a chess set if you have one. Refreshments provided.

Third Saturday of each month. 12.00pm - 1.00pm 

Love to chat about books? Welcome to our Monthly Reading Group, held on the 3rd Saturday of the month, from 12.00pm until 1.00pm. No reservations required — just come along for the books that interest you.

15 June: No Friend but the Mountains by Behrouz Boochani
20 July: The Lucky Galah by Tracy Sorensen

Scribe & Sketch Club (Formerly Young Writers' Club) 

Every Wednesday during the school term from 3.30pm - 4.30pm.

Are you a keen reader? Do you love to draw? Do you like creative writing? Create and express your stories this term with the Young Writers' Club. 

Come develop your storytelling skills in a fun and social environment.

For young writers aged 7-12 years.

NOTE: The Scribe & Sketch Club does not meet during the School Holidays.



Mondays from 3.00 - 4.30pm.

The Alice Springs Public Library has its very own LEGO Club and you're invited to join in! All ages welcome.

LEGO is supplied (although donations are always appreciated). All you need is a willingness to have fun and create! Create something yourself, in a team or try out our Challenge Cards.

There is something for everyone at the LEGO Club.

Family History Group

Every second Friday from 4.00 - 6.00pm.

U3A Creative Writing Group

2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 1.00 - 3.30 pm. 

If you are over 50, have a love of writing and would like to share your stories, improve your skills or just meet with like-minded folk, give our U3A Creative Writing Group a go!

NOTE: This meeting is held after library opening hours in the Library Meeting Room - please enter via the old entrance off Gregory Terrace.
