Library Book Sale!

As part of the Alice Springs Garage Sale Trail the library is having a massive book sale! Bag a bargain with books from as little as $1 each OR fill a shopping bag for $5!
At the Library carpark.

Alice Springs CHESS Club

Wednesdays from 6.00pm in the library, (almost) every week! 

Love a game of chess? From social players to more serious competitors, all are welcome. Please bring along a chess set if you have one. Refreshments provided.

NOTE: Chess Club does not meet during the School Holidays.

 

LEGO Club

Monday afternoons 4.00pm to 5.30pm in the library. 

NEW times for LEGO Club!
From Monday 9 October 2017 LEGO Club will meet from 4.00pm to 5.30pm, in response to participant feedback.

The Alice Springs Public Library has its very own LEGO Club and you're invited to join in!

LEGO is supplied (although donations are always appreciated). All you need is a willingness to have fun and create! Create something yourself, in a team or try out our Challenge Cards. There is something for everyone at the LEGO Club.
Free. No bookings required. NOTE: This program runs during School Term time. 

 

Addiction Recovery Program 

Fridays 1.00pm - 3.00pm 

Alice Springs Public Library - Meeting Room 
Advice, support and guidance for those living with addiction. The 12-step program incorporates gospel principles and fosters recovery and healing for all types of addiction. Facilitated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Completely confidential. All welcome. No bookings required.

Conversational English

Friday afternoons 5.00pm to 6.00pm in the library

Practice conversational English
• Relaxed weekly meetings
• Make new friends
• Coffee & Tea provided

This group began for women only, but because of the demand for English language classes, we have opened it up to include all members of the public.
Meet other people wanting to practice their conversational English skills in these relaxed weekly meetings.

Free. No bookings required.

NOTE: Conversational English group does not meet during the School Holidays.

 

U3A Creative Writing Group

First & Third Saturday each month. 1.30pm-3.30pm

If you are over 50, have a love of writing and would like to share your stories, improve your skills or just meet with like-minded folk, give our U3A Creative Writing Group a go!

Monthly Reading Group

Third Saturday of each month. 12.00pm - 1.00pm

Love to chat about books? Welcome to our Monthly Reading Group, held on the 3rd Saturday of the month, from 12.00pm until 1.00pm. No reservations required — just come along for the books that interest you.

S.A.L.T. (Share A Lunch Together)

Second Saturday of each month. 11.30am-1.00pm

New to town and looking to make new friends? Discover all that Alice Springs has to offer! Come and share a lunch with us!
At the Alice Springs Public Library Meeting Room.
Each month will feature a speaker from around Alice Springs. Bring your lunch (and a friend if you like!)

Regular events for children

Preschool Storytime: held each Tuesday morning at 10.15am-10.45am,
and from Monday 9 October 2017 also every Monday at 2.00pm-2.30pm

For 2-5 year olds. Learning can be as simple as one book. Preschool Storytime is a fun and interactive session using books, rhymes, songs and play to stimulate literacy development. FREE. Bookings not required.

Baby Rhyme Time: held each Friday morning at 10.15am-10.45am

For 0-2 year olds. Songs, rhymes, stories and play are a wonderful way to develop a love of language. This interactive session is designed to support pre-literacy education in a fun and social way. FREE. Bookings not required.
