Alice Springs CHESS Club

Wednesdays at 6pm in the library, (almost) every week! 

Love a game of chess? From social players to more serious competitors, all are welcome. Please bring along a chess set if you have one. Refreshments provided.

Young Writers' Club

Wednesday afternoons 3.30pm to 5pm in the library. 

Learn the building blocks of writing a story! The Young Writers' Club meets each Wednesday during the school term. It is the perfect way for budding authors, screenplay writers, journalists and storytellers to learn the building blocks of writing. For 7 to 12 year olds. Booking required. This is a free event. Snacks provided.

Thursday afternoons 5pm to 6pm in the library. 

Following on from the great success of the LEGO Club held as part of the School Holiday Program, the Alice Springs Public Library has its very own LEGO Club starting and you are invited to be a member!

LEGO is supplied (although donations are always appreciated). All you need is a willingness to have fun and create! Create something yourself, in a team or try out our Challenge Cards. There is something for everyone at the LEGO Club.


Conversation Group for Women

Friday afternoons 5pm to 6pm in the library. Starts 3 March 2017.

• Relaxed weekly meetings
• Practice conversational English
• Make new friends
• Coffee & Tea provided

Meet other women wanting to practice their conversational English skills in these relaxed weekly meetings.

Free. No bookings required.


U3A Creative Writing Group

First & Third Saturday each month. 1.30pm-3.30pm.

If you are over 50, have a love of writing and would like to share your stories, improve your skills or just meet with like-minded folk, give our U3A Creative Writing Group a go!

NOTE: This meeting is held after library opening hours in the library Meeting Room - please enter via the old entrance off Gregory Terrace.


Monthly Reading Group

Held on the third Saturday of every month in the library. Next session Saturday 18 February 12pm.

Love to chat about books? Welcome to our Monthly Reading Group, held on the 3rd Saturday of the month, from 12.00pm until 1.00pm. No reservations required — just come along for the books that interest you.

Read the book, then join our informal conversation around the book. Tea and coffee provided. 


Regular events for children

Storytime for Preschoolers: held each Tuesday morning at 10:15am.

For 0-5 year olds. Come along and enjoy story telling and toys! 

Baby Rhyme Time: held each Friday morning at 10:15am.

Join us for songs and rhymes and see the joy sparkle in your baby's eyes!
