Night market

The Alice Springs Town Council operates a Night Market in the Todd Mall every month from August through to November from 5-9pm.

Night Markets are held on a Thursday, often themed and compliment major events such as the Alice Desert Festival, Alice Springs Masters Games and offer a variety of local performance.

With entertainment for the whole family, you can shop till you drop for authentic indigenous art, craftworks, recycled treasures, books, photos, handmade clothing and jewellery. You’ll be surprised at what you will find.

Chill out, catch up with friends and watch the world go by with a tasty treat from one of the enticing multicultural food vendors or just hang out in the mall and listen to the riveting, intoxicating, electric, rousing grooves of diverse Alice Springs talent.

ASTC Night Markets are a family friendly smoke free event, proudly supported by Bellette and Southern Cross Television Central.

 

1. How do I request a market stall to participate at the ASTC Night Markets?

If you wish to participate at an ASTC Night Market please contact the ASTC Community Projects Officer, on 8950 0505 or fstoops@astc.nt.gov.au  no later than three weeks prior to the market date.

2. Do I require a license to trade?

Yes. Before trading you will need to submit a Stallholder Market License  available from the Alice Springs Town Council with a current hard copy of your public and/or product liability insurance. License fees from 1 July are $13 and valid until the end of calendar year.

If you already have a current Alice Springs Town Council market license, trading at Sunday Todd Mall Markets and would like to participate in any of the night markets including the Christmas Carnival please register your interest no later than three weeks prior to the market date by contacting the Community Projects Officer on (08) 8950 0505 or fstoops@astc.nt.gov.au

3. What else does the license cover me for?

Your ASTC stallholder license will also cover you to trade at the Todd Mall Markets Incorporated on Sundays. However, if you would like to participate in the Sunday markets you must first register on line at www.toddmallmarkets.com.au  to check for site availability. Once confirmed, you will be allocated a site.

4. Do I require a vehicle permit?

If you require vehicular access please submit a vehicle permit available from ASTC. Permit fees from 1 July are $26.50 and valid until end of calendar year. A concession of $13.50 is available pensioners, charity and community groups (that are specifically not for profit). Within the market venue, please be aware there is a vehicle load limit. Anything exceeding the vehicle load limit must approach ASTC Community projects Officer on 8950 0505 or fstoops@ast.nt.gov.au

5. How much is a site at the ASTC Night Market?

As of 1 July fees are $33.50 per 3m x 3m site. Once site availability has been confirmed, an email will be sent informing of due dates for pre payment.

6. Do I need my own public liability insurance to hold a market stall?

Yes, all stallholders as required by law must hold and submit their own public liability insurance. For more information please check the ASTC stallholder guidelines

7. What are the requirements of a food stallholder?

Food stallholders are required to be registered with the Department of Health and must ensure that they submit their food registration with all other necessary documents to ASTC. Food registration certificates must be visible at your stall with a clear description of your products and prices.

8. What if I require gas and/or electricity?

All electrical and gas equipment must be in accordance with NT Worksafe guidelines. NT Worksafe bulletins can be found at the end of this page. Please be aware that powered sites are limited.

9. Where is my site located?

Please note there is no guarantee of specific sites requested and site allocation is up to the discretion of the market coordinator. Notification of site allocations will be sent out prior to each market with specific reminders in regards to vehicular access and egress.

11. Can I preform at the Night Markets?

Yes you can. Please fill in the following form and submit to fstoops@astc.nt.gov.au with a short biography and dates of preference as early as possible.

12. Can I busk at the Night Markets?

Yes, however you will first need to contact the Community Projects Officer on (08) 8950 0505 or fstoops@astc.nt.gov.au to discuss so that you do not impact on the contracted performers already playing at the Night Markets. You will also need a permit and comply with permit regulations.
