Take a break with Council at the Show

This year at the Show, make sure you take some time to relax at the Alice Springs Town Council Site. Sit down in the shade with a free cup of tea or coffee and enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle.

“The Council Show Site is always popular, because we provide a place for people who are looking to take some time out, rest their feet and gather their thoughts,” said Mayor Fran Kilgariff.

When visiting the Council Show Site this year, people can enjoy the sounds of local musician Tara Stewart singing her own original songs as well as covers, and playing various instruments including the guitar and flute.

“It’s hard for parents with young children to find a specific place that caters for the whole family, so the Council site aims to do just that. Families with young children can enjoy the designated children’s play area, as well as utilise the baby change and feeding area,”

In addition to the play area, children will also be able to see Booka the Library Dog, who is sure to entertain and bring a smile to their faces.

Council staff and Aldermen will be at the site at all times, so people can ask questions, get information or simply enjoy a friendly chat. There will also be a variety of Council information and brochures available

“I am pleased to let people know that there will also be some Solar Cities information sheets and registration of interest forms available. The registration of interest forms are an important tool for anyone who might want to take part in any of the future Solar Cities initiatives, so I encourage people to come along and take a form,” said Mayor Kilgariff.

Council is also a participant in the Alice Springs Show Yellow Brick Road initiative, so make sure you pop in and say hello when you are making your way around this year.
