Australian Football League fans in Alice Springs are gearing up for the big game between the Adelaide Crows and the West Coast Eagles, which will be held at Traeger Park on Friday 9 March at 7pm.
With large numbers of people expected to attend, organisers are urging everyone to pre-purchase tickets from designated outlets around Alice Springs to avoid long queues at the gates on the night of the match.
“Nobody likes waiting in line, so I encourage everyone to buy their tickets from Dymocks, or from Centralian Sports, to avoid long delays getting into the ground,” said Brett O’Farrell, General Manager Central Australian Football League.
“People are also reminded that they can’t bring their own chairs or alcohol, and in the interests of public safety, people who aren’t wearing shoes won’t be allowed into the grounds,” said Mr O’Farrell.
Alice Springs Town Council is providing Traeger Park for the game, and is proud that this community owned facility meets the high standards required by the Australian Football League.
“Council Rangers will also be helping out with traffic flow and parking along Speed Street and Traeger Avenue, and people are reminded to respect parking laws and regulations,” said Mayor Fran Kilgariff.
There will be an increased police and security presence for the game this year to ensure the entire community feels welcome, with an emphasis on families. The entire Gap Road side of the oval will be a dry zone, and the general public on the grand stand side of the oval will be able to purchase and drink mid-strength and light beers.
“We at Council would like to acknowledge the hard work of the Central Australian Football League in organising this match for our community, especially for their focus on crowd safety for the benefit of all members of the community,” said Mayor Fran Kilgariff.
