May peace be a way of life at the 2007 Christmas Carnival

The Alice Springs Town Council invites the community to the 2007 Christmas Carnival, to be held on Friday 14 December in the Todd Mall from 5-9pm. The theme for the 2007 event is “May peace be more than a season, may it be a way of life”.

This free family-friendly community event is jammed packed with activities and live entertainment for people of all ages, not to mention the market stalls and late-night trading to help people with their last minute Christmas shopping.

“Every year the Christmas Carnival gives the entire community the chance to come together and celebrate the festive season, and this year’s event promises to be as good as ever,” said Mayor Fran Kilgariff.

“The Todd Mall will be on fire with market stalls, buskers. Magicians, balloon twisters and the rhythmic sounds of Drum Atweme,” said Mayor Fran Kilgariff.

Children will be entertained in the Universal Solar Garden on the Uniting Church lawns between Flynn Church and Camera House, where kids can enjoy workshops with the Notnaughty Gnomes and Fantastico Faeries, as well as a special visit from Yamba at 6pm.

“Live entertainment will also be performing under the sails, with Tashka and Crew, M’lis and Jayne, Bewley Brothers, Ben Slip, Blues Yonder and Tara Stewart and the Roaring Sandpods,” said Mayor Kilgariff.

“Council is once again setting up a ‘Lost Kids Meeting Point’ at the Council stand under the sails. It is hoped parents will show their children this place, so they know a safe place to go if they get lost,” said Mayor Kilgariff.
