Community Safety and Security Seminar

Alice Springs Town Council invites interested community members, including residents and business people, to attend a lunch time Community Safety and Security Seminar on Monday 25 June at 12 noon in the Andy McNeill Room at the Council Civic Centre on Todd Street.

Seminar presenters will be Deputy Mayor David Koch, Alderman Robyn Lambley and Council Technical Services Projects Manager Tony Cheng who all recently attended the National Community Safety and Security Conference in Sydney

“The aim of the lunchtime seminar is to feed back some of the innovative and proactive ways in which other communities in Australia have dealt with or improved community safety and security,” said Deputy Mayor David Koch

“When we highlighted the fact that key note speakers at the conference presented innovative solutions to issues similar to those facing our community, Council felt it was important for the community to be able to access information presented at the conference,” said Deputy Mayor Koch.

The lunch time seminar will involve three 10-15 minute presentations from the three speakers, followed by a question time where people can ask specific questions about the presentations, or perhaps even the National Conference itself.

Some of the topics being presented include Lismore’s Living Library, Midnight Basketball Australia in Redfern and Waterloo, the Logan City CCTV program, Community Safety in Frankston City, Security and the Built Environment and Graffiti and Public Arts in Brisbane.

“I encourage interested people in the community to attend the seminar. Whether you feel inspired to begin steps to implement a new community initiative, or just take a single new idea away, it can hopefully have a positive flow-on effect into the wider community,” said Mayor Kilgariff.
