Council is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic person to undertake a range of horticultural activities, including maintaining trees and shrubs on the streetscapes, reserves, laneways and ovals.

Salary: Level 5 (Municipal Employee), $37,653 p/a and other allowances in accordance with Council’s Workplace Partnership Agreement

Maintain trees and shrubs on the streetscapes, reserves, laneways, ovals and other areas as directed
" Assist with the planning, co-ordination and supervision of the activities of the Tree Crew
" Maintain trees and shrubs through effective pruning and caring methods
" Identify and remove weeds, pests and diseases and eradicate them through the use of pesticides and herbicides
" Operate and maintain machinery including the cherry picker, wood chipper machines and chain saws
" Keep accurate daily work records and report any issues including necessary repairs to the team leader/ supervisor
" Work unsupervised following instructions
" Work safely as part of a team following Council policies and procedures
" Behave according to the ASTC Code of Conduct including treating the general public with respect
" Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor

" Current MR Class Licence to be able to drive in the Northern Territory
1. Ability to maintain trees and shrubs using effective pruning and caring methods
2. Ability to effectively operate and maintain the cherry picker, wood chipper, chain saws and other relevant machinery
3. Ability to identify and remove weeds, pests and diseases and eradicate them through the use of pesticides and herbicides
4. Possess current Chainsaw Operation and Elevated Work Platform Certificates
5. Ability to do physical work in a safe manner as part of a team.
6. Ability to be respectful to the general public and other Council employees
7. Current MR Class Licence to be able to drive in the Northern Territory
Desirable
1. Understanding of and familiarity with Aboriginal Culture
2. Current HR Class Licence to be able to drive in the Northern Territory
3. Current Smart Train (Chemcert) Certificate
4. Current Workzone Traffic Management (Control Traffic) Certificate
5. Completion of relevant Arboricultural studies
