Council is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably skilled person to assist in the installation and upkeep of playground equipment and undertake a range of general horticultural activities at Council managed facilities
Salary: Level 3 (Municipal Employee), $34,685 pa and other allowances in accordance with Council’s Workplace Partnership Agreement

Assist in the installation, maintenance and repairs of equipment in accordance with Australian standards, plus undertake general horticultural activities at Council parks, ovals and associated facilities
• Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair work on Council equipment in line with Australian standards e.g. paving, security fencing, graffiti removal
• Undertake a range of horticultural activities particularly mowing, spraying, slashing, top-dressing, scarifying, fertilizing and aerating turfed areas
• Identify and remove weeds, pests and diseases and eradicate them through the use of pesticides and herbicides
• Operate and maintain a broad range of plant and equipment to a safe and competent standard and identify any necessary repairs
• Work unsupervised following instructions and procedures, as required
• Keep accurate daily work records and report any issues to Supervisor
• Contribute to occupational health safety and welfare (OHS&W) compliance by using safe working practices
• Work as part of a team and contribute to maintaining a harmonious work environment
• Foster a good working relationship with the general public and facility users
• Demonstrate behaviours consistent with the ASTC Code of Conduct
• Undertake of a range of appropriate support duties as directed by the Supervisor

Current LR Class Licence to be able to drive in the Northern Territory
1. Ability to effectively maintain, repair and assist with the of recreational equipment, within the parks and gardens of Alice Springs to Australian standards
2. Ability to undertake a range of horticultural activities particularly mowing, spraying, slashing, top-dressing, scarifying, fertilizing and aerating turfed areas
3. Ability to operate and maintain a broad range of plant and equipment to a safe and competent standard, and identify any necessary repairs
4. Ability to work unsupervised following instructions and procedures, including keeping accurate daily work records and reporting any issues to Supervisor
5. Ability to identify, remove and eradicate weeds, pests and diseases through the use of chemicals
6. Be physically fit with the ability to work safely within OHS&W procedures in a manual environment
7. Ability to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the ASTC Code of Conduct, co-operate with the general public and work as part of an effective harmonious team
8. Current LR Class Licence to be able to drive in the Northern Territory
