Council is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably skilled person to undertake general maintenance and cleaning for the Todd Mall, Civic Centre and surrounds.

Salary: Level 2 (Municipal Employee), $34,920 p/a and other allowances in accordance with Council’s Workplace Partnership Agreement

POSITION DESCRIPTION: P 3412 Team Member – CBD

Primary Objective:

Undertake a range of general cleaning and gardening maintenance duties in the Todd Mall, Civic Centre and immediate surrounds

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean all areas including sweeping, scrubbing and vacuuming
• Maintain trees and shrubs through effective pruning and caring methods
• Identify and remove weeds, pests and diseases and eradicate them through the use of pesticides and herbicides
• Operate and maintain equipment including ride-on mower, blower, pressure cleaner, whipper-snipper, edger, mower and hand operated vacuum
• Keep accurate daily work records and report any issues including necessary repairs to the team leader/ supervisor
• Work unsupervised following instructions
• Work safely as part of a team following Council policies and procedures
• Behave according to the ASTC Code of Conduct including treating the general public with respect
• Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor

Qualifications:

Current C Class Licence to be able to drive in the Northern Territory

Selection Criteria:

Essential

1. Ability to effectively clean all areas of the Central business District including sweeping, scrubbing, vacuuming and removing of litter
2. Ability to operate and maintain equipment including ride-on mower, blower, pressure cleaner, whipper-snipper, edger, mower and hand operated vacuum
3. Ability to identify, remove and eradicate weeds, pests and diseases through the use of chemicals
4. Ability to do physical work in a safe manner as part of a team and unsupervised
5. Ability to be respectful to the general public and other Council employees
6. Current C Class Licence to be able to drive in the Northern Territory

Desirable

1. Understanding of and familiarity with Aboriginal Culture
2. Current MR Class Licence to be able to drive in the Northern Territory
