Council is seeking a suitably skilled and motivated person to oversee and prepare turf cricket wickets on Council facilities, and perform a range of other horticultural duties

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

P3433 SENIOR CRICKET WICKET CURATOR

Primary Objective:

Oversee and prepare turf cricket wickets on Council facilities, plus a range of horticultural duties

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare quality turf cricket wickets
• Plan, co-ordinate and supervise work done by Cricket Wickets Curator
• Plant trees, shrubs and other appropriate climate conditioned plants and maintain these through effective pruning and caring techniques
• Install, maintain and operate drip irrigation systems
• Undertake a range of general cleaning, labouring, and maintenance work on Council facilities
• Identify and remove weeds, pests and diseases and eradicate them through the effective use of chemicals
• Operate and maintain plant and equipment including whipper-snippers, edgers, blowers, chainsaws and rotary & cylinder mowers and to a safe and competent standard, and identify any necessary repairs
• Work unsupervised following instructions and procedures, as required
• Keep accurate daily work records and report any issues to Supervisor
• Contribute to occupational health safety and welfare (OHS&W) compliance by using safe working practices
• Work as part of a team and contribute to maintaining a harmonious work environment
• Foster a good working relationship with the general public and facility users
• Demonstrate behaviours consistent with the ASTC Code of Conduct
• Undertake of a range of appropriate support duties as directed by the Supervisor

Supervisory Requirements:

Cricket Wicket Curator

Qualifications:

• Current Smart Train Certificate or equivalent
• Current C Class Licence to be able to drive in the Northern Territory

Selection Criteria:

Essential

1. Experience in turf wicket preparation, with the ability to prepare and maintain quality turf wickets
2. Ability to plan, co-ordinate and supervise work of others including keeping accurate work records and reporting key issues to Supervisor
3. Ability to operate and maintain plant and equipment including roller, whipper-snippers, edgers, blowers, chainsaws and rotary & cylinder mowers to a safe and competent standard, and identify any necessary repairs
4. Ability to identify, prune and care for plants, trees, shrubs and other climate conditioned plants suitable for Alice Springs
5. Ability to effectively identify and remove weeds, pests and diseases and eradicate them through the effective use of chemicals
6. Ability to install, maintain and operate drip irrigation systems
7. Be physically fit with the ability to work safely within OHS&W procedures in a manual environment.
8. Ability to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the ASTC Code of Conduct, co-operate with the general public and work as part of an effective harmonious team
9. Current C Class Licence to be able to drive in the Northern Territory
