Council is seeking a motivated and suitably skilled person to perform administrative functions relating to the management of Council’s expenditure. The role includes all activities associated with the purchasing and accounts payable functions

Salary: Level 4 (Municipal Officer) $51,618- $55,408 pa, plus District Allowance, in accordance with Council’s Workplace Partnership Agreement

Position Description

Primary Objective

To perform administrative functions relating to the management of the Council’s expenditure. The role includes all activities associated with the purchasing and accounts payable function.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake the requisition, ordering and processing of purchases
• Ensure the processing and payment of all invoices and accounts
• Provide a range of financial administrative activities that include month end reporting, preparation of budgets and cost transfer allocations
• Control and maintain the Council plants and asset systems
• Undertake a range of activities to ensure the cost effective and compliance purchasing function for Council

Qualifications

Post secondary qualifications and/or administrative experience relevant to the position, or suitable experience acceptable to the CEO

Selection Criteria

Essential

1. High level of financial skills with the ability to provide a range of financial administrative activities relating to purchasing, costings, invoicing, reporting budgeting and asset management

2. High level literacy and computer skills, including skills in spreadsheets and database management

3. Effective interpersonal skills and an ability to liaise with management, staff and customers on creditor/purchasing issues including maintaining a high degree of confidentiality, discretion and diplomacy

4. Good organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

5. Post secondary qualifications and/or administrative experience relevant to the position, or suitable experience acceptable to the CEO

6. Current drivers licence to be able to drive a motor vehicle in the NT

Desirable

1. Experience in Local Government
