Council is looking for a suitable person to assist in the implementation of Council’s capital works and infrastructure projects, including the preparation of investigation surveys, plans, specifications, concepts and tenders, and monitoring the construction works and infrastructure projects through to practical completion

Salary: Level 3 (Municipal Officer) $46,613 pa and other allowances in accordance with Council’s Workplace Partnership Agreement

POSITION DESCRIPTION – PROJECT OFFICER INFRASTRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT

Primary Objective

To assist in the implementation of Council’s capital works and infrastructure projects, including the preparation of investigation surveys, plans, specifications, concepts and tenders, and monitoring the construction works and infrastructure projects through to practical completion.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist in the design, documentation and tendering of capital works and infrastructure projects
2. Liaise with government and service agencies, Council staff, community and indigenous groups in regards to projects
3. Assist in the administration of capital works and infrastructure projects’ budgets
4. Monitor the construction of Council capital works and infrastructure projects and report issues to the Manager Infrastructure and Development
5. Provide other assistance to the Technical Services team in line with the primary objectives to the position as required.

Qualifications

Current drivers licence to be able to drive a motor vehicle in the NT

Selection Criteria

Essential

1. Ability to assist in the management of the design, documentation, tendering and budgeting of capital works and infrastructure projects.2. Ability to effectively monitor the construction of Council capital works and infrastructure projects.3. Ability to work effectively as part of a effective team in order to achieve outcomes in a productive and timely manner4. Good communication skills, including the ability to effectively liaise with a wide cross- section of government and service agencies, and community and indigenous groups 5. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively including handling competing priorities6. Ability to effectively use MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD, and the internet.7. Current drivers licence to be able to drive a motor vehicle in the NT

Desirable

1. Experience in local government
2. Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, including indigenous communities and individuals
3. Computer literacy including effective use of the Internet
