Subloo Pty Ltd to take over Waste Management Contract

Alice Springs Town Council has selected Subloo Pty Ltd as the successful tender for the Waste Management Contract in Alice Springs. Their contract will stand until 30 June 2013.

“Subloo Pty Ltd is a family owned business that successfully operates and manages several waste management facilities throughout Queensland,” said Alice Springs Town Council Chief Executive Officer, Rex Mooney.

“Their tender was successful due to their ability to manage all elements of the Alice Springs Waste Management Facility, including the Weighbridge and Tip Shop, the Green Recycling as well as the Landfill operation,” said Mr Mooney.

“Through Subloo Pty Ltd’s ability to submit their tender based on managing the entire waste management facility, they were the obvious economic choice for Council,” said Mr Mooney.

It is expected that Subloo Pty Ltd will take over the Waste Management Contract in January 2008. A significant change with the new management contract will be the changeover of management of the Bowerbird Tip Shop.

“Council hopes that some arrangement might be made between Subloo Ptd Ltd and Bowerbird, so that staff currently working at the Tip Shop might have the opportunity to be employed by Subloo Pty Ltd. This however is a matter of liaison between Bowerbird and Subloo Pty Ltd,” said Mr Mooney.

“Alice Springs Town Council would like to officially congratulate Subloo Pty Ltd on winning the tender, and looks forward to working with them in the coming year. We would also like to acknowledge and thank both Cleanaway and Bowerbird for their professional contribution to the operation of the waste management facility,” said Alice Springs Town Council Mayor Fran Kilgariff.
