Library is the place to be this school holidays

The Alice Springs Public Library is once again hosting a number of activities for children of all ages during this summer’s school holidays.

The Summer 2008 School Holiday Program will be running from January 8 to 24, and promises to provide children with the opportunity to learn, be entertained and enjoy themselves in the safe library environment.

"The Public Library always has fantastic holiday programs for children in the community, and are thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attends," said Mayor Fran Kilgariff.

During the Library’s Summer school holiday program there will be fun activities for children of all ages, including arts, crafts, entertainment with a super-hero theme, movie night and much more.

"The Bedtime Storytime is on again, which was held during last two years holiday program and proved so successful it's back again," said Mayor Kilgariff.

"Some activities will require bookings and a gold coin cost, including a visit from Rex and his friendly reptiles from the Alice Springs Reptile Centre, which is sure to be an educational and exciting activity," said Mayor Kilgariff.

Other activities requiring a booking and a gold coin cost include mask making, dot painting, puppet making, improvisation workshops and more. All materials will be provided, and children are free to take their creations home with them.

Activities and events will be held at the Alice Springs Public Library from January 8 to 24. For more information on the 2007 School Holiday Program please contact the Library on 89500555. For all activities requiring bookings, they will be taken from Wednesday 2 January.
