your council Council foyer art program

Council provides gallery space for local artists in the Civic Centre reception area.

In April 2006 a hanging system was installed in the foyer of the new Civic Centre to provide an opportunity to showcase local artwork to the public in a non-commercial setting.

Local arts organisations and individual artists may now apply to hang suitable work in the foyer for a two month period.

How to apply to have your artwork displayed

A detailed description of the works including size and number of works and preferred dates for hanging should be submitted to:

Community Projects Officer
Alice Springs Town Council
PO Box 1071
NT 0871

Works will be selected on their suitability and merit and the artist/organisation notified as to when the work can be displayed.

  • As the space is limited, it is recommended that the hanging site be inspected before a proposal is submitted.
  • Works must be 2 dimensional, no larger than 150cm high x 90cm wide, and be fitted with ‘D’ rings, ready to hang.
  • Works must not exceed 5kg
  • An accompanying description and/or artist’s statement on an A4 page must also be provided, to be displayed on the counter alongside the artworks.

While every care is taken to secure and protect the artworks, Council will take no responsibility for any loss or damage. Members of the public may hang the works at their own risk.
