The Alice Springs Public Library is an invaluable community resource.
Our services include.
Tuesday 24 June - Thursday 17 July
The Library’s June July school holiday program will provide a wide range of activities for children of all ages, some of which require bookings. There will also be activities which don’t require bookings, for younger children such as storytime and craft activities, as well as all-age activities such as Karaoke Night with Tashka Urban.
Kicking off the program are Watercolour Pencil Art, Clap Stick Making and Beading, which are aimed to coincide with the cultural celebration of NAIDOC Week.
Children can create fabulous characters in Puppet Making, Egg Carton Critters and Paper Craft, or try their hand Knitting or Macramé.
Our regular storytime will run as usual during the holidays, with craft to follow, but if that’s not enough, the ever-popular Bedtime Storytime will be on twice! Kids can come in pyjamas, for stories, milk cookies and fun.
The highlight of the program will be song writing workshops with the talented Tashka Urban. In these two sessions kids can develop their skills through experimentation, under the guidance of an experienced (but hip) music teacher. They will get a chance to develop a song and record it, and finally, to try out their work at Karaoke Night! Or just sing a few popular numbers to their friends!
Bookings can be made at the Library front desk from Monday 16 June or by calling 8950 0555.
Full programs are available from the Library front desk or click on the link below.

The Alice Springs Public Library is glad to have the first volume of an index of photographs being scanned by local historians, Barry Allwright and Geoff Purdie.
Barry and Geoff are dedicated to retaining the town's visual history, which previously has been lost as people leave town or pass away. They anticipate donating further volumes of the index to the library as they have many more photographs to scan. They want to make the images available to anyone who wants to have a copy or use them, as long as the source is acknowledged. The index lists photographs taken by a number of people from early last century and has thumbnails of each image. People can look at the index in the Alice Springs Collection in the library; and will be able to contact Barry or Geoff for copies of the images.
For more information please contact Barry Allwright on 8952 1726; or email Barry.allwright@bigpond.com
