With an eye for ‘treasures’, which others may call ‘junk’, the 10 artists exhibiting in this year’s Lost and Found Exhibition have created unique, eclectic and funky exhibits to stimulate and inspire.

Using up-cycled and repurposed objects to create a something of higher quality or value than its original form opens up the mind, as ‘anything goes’.

Case in point is the fabulous peacock sculpture on the event poster is created by artist Carmel Ryan. I love to rescue wildlife, even the metal garden variety. Having found the peacock at the tip shop I gave it a ‘wearable art makeover’ using found materials including vintage lace, various fibres, beads, shells, feathers, palm fronds and spray paint to transform it.

And what a fabulous transformation!.

Lost and Found is presented by the Sustainable Couture collective and supported by the Alice Springs Town Council.
Don’t miss this exhibition at The Residency, which is one of a number of heritage places under the umbrella of Heritage Alice Springs – it will be officially opened by its Chair, Faye Alexander, at 6.30pm on Friday 14 June 2019, and then open weekdays from10 am to 2 pm daily until 18 July.
You may just be inspired to create your own pieces and, (shhh) reduce waste at the same time
