Khenpo Ngawag Dhamchoe has been a monk for more than 40 years. He undertook 10 years of intensive training in all aspects of Tibetan Buddhist studies before being selected to study at Sakya College in Dehradun. In 1990, he completed his Lopon degree (equivalent to a PhD) and in 2002 was awarded the title of Khenpo by His Holiness Sakya Trizin. This title acknowledges special qualities and abilities in scholarship and teaching. Khenpo-la founded the Drogmi Institute in Australia and at the request of students, travels around Australia and overseas to teach Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and practice.
