The Yarning Chair - Lizzie Marrkilyi Ellis

The Alice Springs Public Library presents the Yarning Chair – where you get to put down your books and listen to life stories that inspire.

NT Writer’s Festival guest Lizzie Marrkilyi Ellis is in the Yarning Chair today. Born in the Western Desert at the time of first contact between her family and white Australians, Lizzie grew up to become an educator, interpreter and linguist and is now an Australian Research Council Discover Indigenous Fellow at the Australian National University.
This crossing between life in the bush and the big city, and between cultures, is reflected upon in her recently published memoir Pictures from my memory: my story as a Ngaatjatjarra woman (Aboriginal Studies Press).
