Sustainable Couture Workshop Series 2017 - From Mend to Trend

From Mend to Trend session 1 - Recycling clothing using patching, smocking, tucking, darning

Join textile artist Philomena Hali and learn from her how to tweak or mend clothes to give them a new look.
Get hands-on with a needle and thread and play around with some simple and creative patching and other techniques such as North American smocking, and tucking and more.
Learn traditional techniques used in days gone by for texture, and revival of a garment. Bring an item that requires a patch and begin a story.
No experience necessary - grids will be provided for patterns, demonstrations of each method will be made as part of your class.
