Council is looking for an experienced and suitably skilled person to lead and supervise Waste Management Facility employees, support the Manager Waste Management Facility in the planning and monitoring of the facility's operations and assist with the operation of the facility.
Salary: Level 5 (Municipal Officer), $66,368 - $68,972 p/a including minimum allowance.

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUPERVISOR WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY
Primary Objectives
Lead and supervise Waste Management Facility employees
Support the Manager Waste Management Facility in the planning and monitoring of the facility's operations
Assist with the operation of the facility
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and train Council Waste Management Facility employees
- Operate Waste Management Facility plant and equipment
- Organise the work roster for employees in weighbridge, tip shop and hazard compounds and allocate resources as required
- Oversee and direct Council contractors working in the landfill public bays and stockpiles
- Contribute to waste management facility business/operational planning processes through the effective planning, resourcing, monitoring, evaluating and progress reporting on strategic and day-to-day works operations
- Oversee and direct employees with regards to traffic management and organise and collect recyclable goods from public bays and stockpiles
- Be responsible for the overall waste management facility operations in the absence of the manager
- Ensure Council's landfill, public bays, stockpiles, weighbridge, tip shop, and hazard compounds comply with relevant OHS&W standards
- Oversee and assist in the processing of recyclable products
- Organise maintenance work for all areas of the waste management facility as required
- Assist with the sale of recycling products such as steel, mulch, concrete and tip-shop items
- Monitor and collect landfill data
- Liaise with the Director Technical Services and Waste Management Facility employees on waste management related issues
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct and train employees in the daily running/ operations of the waste management facility

Special Requirements
This position involves working on a 7 day rotating roster. Appropriate pay rates apply for work performed outside ordinary hours as per the current ASTC Enterprise Agreement 2009.
Qualifications
Current HR class drivers licence to be able to drive a motor vehicle in the NT
Forklift licence
Competency in the operation of a bobcat

4. Very good understanding of waste management facility operations with the ability to effectively monitor these operations
5. Ability to identify and document appropriate work procedures
6. Very good customer service skills with the ability to effectively handle customers disputes
7. Very good pricing, cash handling and bank reconciliation skills
8. Very good computer operation skills including the ability to effectively operate, maintain and update a computer operated weighbridge system
9. Very good understanding of occupational health and safety issues
