Indoor Leisure Pool Maintenance

Posted on 03 Feb, 2016

Alice Springs Aquatic and Leisure Centre will be closing the indoor leisure pool from 1st – 31st of March 2016. This will allow us to repair tiles and enable us to undertake a comprehensive maintenance of the pool and plant room.

ASALC is sorry to inconvenience leisure pool patrons. We will be doing all we possibly can to minimise the impacts on our pool users.

We have developed a plan so as to accommodate our many patrons. This includes:

  • Closing our indoor leisure pool outside the holiday period and at a time when our outdoor pools and indoor lap pool are available for use
  • Using thermal blankets on our outdoor pools each night to maintain a comfortable temperature
  • Regulating the temperature and using customised pool furniture to ensure our indoor lap pool is comfortable and accessible for all users
  • Scheduling pool space for our clubs, swimming lessons, school groups and casual users

We will also be holding a stakeholder and public consultation session at 5:30pm on Thursday the 11th of February to discuss the closure and how we can further accommodate all pool users.

Our Learn To Swim classes will run for a full 10 week term. Those already enrolled will have the option to extend for the full term.

ASALC is grateful for the support of the Alice Springs community over the 5 years the indoor facility has been open. We would like to thank all of our pool users for their continuing patience and support.  We hope and expect that this maintenance and repair ensures we will continue to run a fantastic facility for the benefit of ASALC patrons.
