Kerbside Recycling Arrives July 2018
From the 1st of July 2018, all rate paying non-rural properties in Alice Springs will receive a yellow-lidded 240 litre wheelie bin for recyclable items, which will be collected fortnightly.
Through providing a kerbside recycling service, Council expects to extend the lifespan of the landfill at its Regional Waste Management Facility, reducing long-term costs for the Alice Springs community and preserving our unique and precious Central Australian landscape.
The fee for this additional service in the 2018/19 financial year will be $60 to relevant rate paying properties, along with existing waste management charges.
This new service will be simple to understand and similar to that provided to other municipalities around Australia.
An extensive awareness campaign will be undertaken by Council, in partnership with Cleanaway, prior to the commencement of kerbside recycling.
Council looks forward to sharing more information with you in 2018. Collection timetables, specific recyclable items, and other further details will be made available closer to the commencement of this new service.
Council welcomes any feedback regarding this new service. If you would like to raise questions or concerns, please send an email to email@example.com, or call 8950 0500.

Q: Can I opt in or out of this service?
In order to keep the cost as minimal as possible for this additional service, Council has been able to coordinate this service with the current waste collection, thereby the recycling bin is not an ‘opt in/ opt out’ service. The recycling component of the service is part of the current Council bin collection service and does not operate separately. Therefore if you currently have a bin collection service then you will also have a recycling collection from July 2018.
