Free Reusable Produce Bags

Tired of single-use plastic bags for fruit and veggies at the supermarket? Council is giving away reusable produce bags to recyclers in celebration of National Recycling Week!

Starting Monday 13 November, simply bring in some household batteries (A, AA, AAA, D 9V, 6V, button cell) or old mobile phones and accessories to the Civic Centre, Public Library, or Rediscovery Centre. Council will recycle your items, and you'll walk away with a set of 4 Onya brand reusable bags! Get in quick while stocks last.

These bags are a great alternative to plastic, and are made from recycled materials! These bags potentially keep produce fresher by allow produce to 'breathe', and each bag can carry up to 2 kilograms of produce.

Mobile phones contain a great number of useful materials! Read more about the importance of recycling them here.

Household batteries contain a variety of materials that can be toxic, valuable or both. Recycling them helps to recover finite natural resources and keeps them out of landfill.

Get in quick! These bags are only available while stocks last.
