Advocate Art Award

For more than 45 years the Central Australian Art Society's volunteers have been supporting local artists with workshops, exhibitions and life drawing. For the last 31 years the Centralian Advocate has been the primary supporter of the ever popular Advocate Art Award exhibition. Last year a record number of entries were received. The Award continues its excellent tradition this year with opening night 10 July, 6pm, at Witchetty's Artspace, Araluen, when prizes will be awarded to winners of six categories.

The exhibition will run until 26 July at which time the popular vote for the People's Choice Award will be announced, after the Walk in the Gallery when many of the artists talk about their work. Last year the People's Choice was the same work the judges selected as overall winner, to the double delight of artist and Central Australian Art Society member, Sarah Brown.

The Award is open to all Central Australian artists, regardless of experience or style of work, as has been the case since its inception. Entry forms are available from select issues of the Advocate Newspaper, and from the Central Australian Art Society Inc web site at http://www.caas.net.au.
