The Council’s Landfill in Commonage Road provides a range of services including organic (greenwaste) recycling, best practice fill and compaction techniques, data collection capabilities.
Alice Springs Town Council is committed to providing a fairer and more equitable system of charging for waste disposal, while minimising the environmental impact of the landfill.
The Landfill is operated in accordance with the Waste Management and Pollution Control Act NT 1998.

Tip Shop & Recycling at the Landfill
The Tip Shop is Alice Springs' alternative shopping experience, selling goods recovered from the Alice Springs landfill.
Greenwaste
Disposal of clean, uncontaminated greenwaste is now free for both domestic and commercial loads.
Greenwaste is organic material such as garden clippings and prunings. When depositing waste as greenwaste, you must ensure it is free of all contaminants, including paper and soil. Greenwaste will be be monitored for contaminants at the disposal point, and contaminated greenwaste will be charged at the relevant landfill charge.
Greenwaste is recycled at the Landfill into mulch for sale by the landfill contractor. Compost and soil mixes will be available soon also. For an outline of the greenwaste recycling initiative and greenwaste do's and don't's, click here.
Clean Fill
It is free to leave clean earth fill at the Landfill, however you must give 24 hours notice to the weighbridge by phoning 8953 3674.
