Through innovative leadership and good governance Alice Springs Town Council will provide and advocate for services to meet the present and changing needs of our community.

The Elected Council

The Council consists of the Mayor and eight Aldermen. A listing of the current Aldermen can be found here.

Elections are held every four years, with the next elections scheduled for 2012.

Council Meetings

Council Meetings are held in the Council Chamber, Todd Street, on the last Monday of every month, commencing at 6.30pm.

Council Committee Meetings are held in the Council Chamber, Todd Street, from the 3rd last Monday of every month, commencing at 5.15pm.

Almost all business which comes before the Council is first considered at Committee Meetings.

The public and the media are welcome to attend all Council and Committee meetings, except while confidential items are discussed.

Agendas are available at Council reception on the Friday preceding the meetings and on the Council’s website.

Council Minutes are available for inspection by the Wednesday after the meetings.

Council Standing Committees

Three committees composed of Council employees and Aldermen discuss issues and make recommendations to the full Council on policy.

Advisory Committees

For more specialised advice the Council Committees are supported by a number of Advisory Committees covering areas such as recreational facilities, disability services, cemetery management and local bus services.
