In 2006 The Alice Springs Town Council adopted a public art policy which stipulates that a proportion of the budget for all Council capital works projects must be set aside for public art projects.

Alice Springs Town Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified artists and community representatives to create a public art work that pays homage to, and reflects the unique environment and cultural diversity of, Alice Springs.

The public art work will be located at the redeveloped Civic Centre site in Alice Springs’ CBD. This site holds historical significance being the location of the first Afghan Mosque, a market garden, the Allied Works Council and garden of anthropologist and conservationist, the colourful Miss Olive Pink.

Applications must be forwarded, in hard copy, by 5pm Monday 19 November, 2007. Please note, late, faxed or emailed submissions will not be considered.

PLEASE NOTE: the public Information Session date has changed to Friday, 26 October 2007.

Where: The Andy McNeill Room
Civic Centre, Todd Street
Time: 1.00 -2.30pm.

The Public Art Advisory Committee will present on particular areas of the application process and answer any questions from the public. Refreshments will be available.
