The Alice Springs Public Library provides access to the ever-expanding world of information. Through our friendly, progressive and responsive service, opportunities are created for recreation and lifelong learning that enrich the lives of all members of the community. Opening Hours

Joining The Library

Membership of the Library is free to all permanent residents of Alice Springs. Proof of local residential address is required when joining the library. Acceptable proofs of address are:

• Current Northern Territory driver’s license
• Rate notice from Alice Springs Town Council
• Account from a government department or utility, eg PAWA, Telstra
• Rental or tenancy agreement - period of 3 months or more
• Contract of employment from employer written on company letterhead stating the employment to be either permanent or for a period of at least 3 months
• Social Security, Pension or Health Care Card
• Electoral card

People living outside the Council area may become Country Borrowers.

Children

• Parents or Guardians of children under 16 are required to sign their library card.
• Current membership or proof of identity and address as per Full Borrower will be required.
• Those aged less than 18 years and living independently need to provide proof of residential address as per Full Borrower.

Non Resident Borrower

For temporary residents of Alice Springs who wish to borrow from the catalogued collection, a fee of $50 applies.

Institutional Borrower

Schools: The Principal must sign an indemnity form.
Other institutions: The responsible person for that institution must sign an indemnity form.

Lost Cards

Replacement cards can be supplied for a fee.
